Yeah, I wrote my parents a letter telling them I'm non-binary and to use they/them pronouns for me. It was quite short and sweet, but also kind of funny and straight to the point, with examples. Hopefully it goes well
Also if you want to read the actual letter just comment

    Full marks for bravery!

It would be interesting to see the letter and it might help other non-binary and non-cis people generally .

More important we are all dying to know how it went.

    Best of luck.

I'd love to share my letter  So this is it (slightly edited size-wise, and also to remove my real name) in all it's glory :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Mum and Dad,
Yeah, um, the she/her thing? Can you, um not do that please? I prefer they/them/their.
    E.g.
Pumpion’s still here, they just ate dinner.
Can you give Pumpion back their book please?
I’m not sure if Pumpion wants to go, you’ll have to ask them.
Please, Pumpion can take care of themself, they’re 17!
Pumpion has that CD, that copy is actually theirs.
Yeah, something along those lines would be really nice.

P.S. I’m non-binary, just in case you wanted to know why I prefer they/them.
P.P.S. In the unlikely event that you have to talk about me in another language but there is no equivalent of they’them (for example in French), then he/him equivalents are also fine, but she/her just gives me the shudders and is just, no.
