Hey guys! So today I told my dad that I was going to a GSA meeting. He seemed confused but was ok with it. I think this coupled with never talking about girls probably has tipped then off. It's fine with me because I'm terrible at having these conversations with them.. Anyway I guess I'm sorta out now haha (!)
Congratulations, that a big first step. Even if they go into denial mode, at least it will plant the seed for when you are "fully out" to them and/or bring home a date. The initial shock will be much less :eusa_danc
congrats! i pretty much came out to my mom by asking her what is 'girlfriend' in our home language and it's the same as the word for friend, but could also mean girlfriend and said "so i guess i have a girlfriend", but i did that in the middle of watching a theatre play with her (it was a yikes moment).
Oh my god! So I sit down to eat dinner and my mom says, I need to know why you're going to GSA. So I respond, to find other gay guys. Then she said, You have to be joking. I told her I wasn't. They looked really surprised but were great about it! Im soo happy! ---------- Post added 20th Apr 2016 at 09:47 PM ---------- I mean I would rather it had been less like an interrogation but hey, Ill take it
Talking about going to a GSA meeting, and bringing it up more or less casually is a great way of coming out. Happy for you that both your parents are understanding and supportive. Congratulations on taking the steps!
