Church Street is the gay district in Toronto! I had met someone for coffee several months ago, before my personal situation changed. I got in touch with him again recently, and we've been chatting for a while. We've been talking about getting together for a bit, and finally last night I just said - well what are you doing now? So I went down and picked him up, we went for a bit of a spin, parked, and went for a drink at a pub on Church Street, out on a patio. I continue to amaze myself at how comfortable I am being out in the gay community. I guess I've probably known at some level all along, I don't know. Anyway, I thought it was cool to be sitting out casually having a drink in the gay district! :icon_bigg It was a beautiful evening, and we had a chance to talk about me and where I'm at, and how he's been out for years, and knew since he was quite young that he was gay. We both had a nice time. I drove him back to his condo, and he gave me a good night peck on the cheek, and a hug, and I think we held on long enough to suggest that a more serious kiss might be in order, so that's what happened. (!) We've chatted online again today, and we're both very much interested in getting together again! Yay!
Congratulations Jim, It is nice to hear success stories like yours. Hope it develops the way you want it to :eusa_clap . And yes, it is amazing how well we adjust to enjoying life in the "gay district". I think it has to do with the fact that we can totally relax and be ourselves. In our little gay district, I was surprised how accepting and friendly people are, even though I'm a bit older than most of the crowd, and my boyfriend is 23. I've been having the time of my life since last summer (!) . Wish you well!
Thanks everyone! Yes - I thought I'd share a 'success' story. There's hope for everyone, if even an OLD guy like me can meet people and have a good time. (!)
lol! You're right, it is! I'm not sure it is really reflective of the 'real world', but it is interesting to go and 'people watch' once in a while! You're a couple of years away from frequenting any of the drinking establishments... but your time will come.
Thanks! Time will tell... unfortunately, he's going to Spain for 2 weeks on vacation. But we're definitely going to get together again when he gets back! :icon_bigg
yay awww thats so awesome. I;m very happy for you. I'm glad your getting to know the district and you've met someone keep us updated
Congrats! BTW, we have a gay district AND a separate alternative district. Gay people can be seen walking down the street holding hands in both.
Good news! I often walk down Church Street, just to check it out. It *is* interesting to people-watch, but somehow, I never quite feel that I belong there. I fear I'm not very good at this "gay" thing - at least when it comes to the "scene".
Oh it´s so good to hear stuff like this... jaja I imagine it like a romantic movie scene jaja I´m happy for you man Hope this becomes something good
Sounds like a perfect night..congrats on everything. I'm hanging on the edge of my seat for the next installment, lol.
