Hello everyone! So after nearly a year and a half on EC, I finally came out to my mum! And she's awesome!

I had decided to come out to her and was really, really nervous. It was a decision I made over a couple of days or so. I told one or two friends that I was going to try and do so to get my courage up, although I also didn't want to have the embarrassment of not coming out in the end, so I didn't tell most people (not that I'm out to that many anyway!).

I wasn't really sure how to do it - I didn't want to make a huge deal of it, but then I didn't know how much she suspected or anything beforehand. Basically, I knew what would happen up until the moment I came out, but after that I didn't know the script. Although in the end I needn't have worried.

I randomly said to her that I wanted to talk to her, and then just came right out and said it: I'm bisexual. I then said that I was just saying this because it meant I could end up settling down with either a man or a woman (this is obvious, I know, but I just wanted to make sure she knew I was serious). She looked completely and utterly shocked (although this could have been because I just randomly came out with it, without any warning at all) and it was really, really uncomfortable. She seemed really, really surprised and shocked, and it was really, really uncomfortable, but nevertheless she hugged me a few times and said that it was fine just as long as I'm happy. Then, a while later, I brought the topic up again (I felt it was important to do so because we hadn't really spoken much) and it was a very light-hearted conversation and it all seemed ok. She didn't really ask any questions though, but I think that'll come, and I think she knows she can ask. Although I am a little worried that she's even more shocked and has more questions than she's letting on but doesn't really want to show this or know how to ask me. But I think that as long as I bring it up now and then - normalise it - then it'll become easier.

But it was evident straight away that she took me entirely seriously, and even though she was clearly very, very surprised by my announcement, she still hugged me a few times and was fine with it.

So yeah: it was all good! It was terrifying though! I'm glad we had another conversation, where I gave her an opening to talk if she wanted to. She didn't really take it, but we talked in a completely normal way and I think it cleared the air a bit, and let her know she could just ask me.

So - I'm out to my mum! It's unbelievable, isn't it? Thanks guys SO MUCH!!!!
