I've been thinking about doing this for a long time, and over the last few days I finally worked up the courage to do it. I'd like to thank 'Cool Beans' for posting the story about coming out to his future roommate. That story really helped give me the confidence to do this. So, I changed my 'interested in' on Facebook (whether anybody will actually look at my profile info to see it is another issue entirely), sent a message to my three future roommates coming out to them, and added more of my cousins. Once they see it, I know it won't take long to get around to everybody on my dad's side of the family. Fortunately, most everybody in his family is pretty liberal, and should be completely fine with it. I'm sort of nervous and relieved at the same time. Now I just have to wait to see people's responses.
One of my roommates has already messaged me back. His response: He and I are sharing a bedroom (there are four of us in a two bedroom suite), so him being ok with it was most important.

that is a really brave thing to do! Im happy for you that they are taking it so well. I wish I was as brave as you but things are too far gone for me lol
