For anyone who read my last post - I found a gay swim group, I went, and 15 min before things got started, I chickened out and went home.

Well, it took me a while, and I was THIS close to backing out yet again, but I forced myself to drive to the pool instead of driving home after work.

The result: I had a GREAT time!....and realized I'm in terrible shape...but that's something I can work on.

The weird thing was, one reason why I enjoyed it so much was because despite the pool full of other gay guys...it was very un-gay. LOL. It was all about the swimming, which was exactly what I needed. Just to hang out with other gay guys in a place where sexuality is not the big deal. It was really cool and I'm definitely going back.

I'm gonna aim for going twice a week - I'm already getting nervous again for the next time...but knowing I made it through that first time is gonna make things so much easier in the future.

That's awesome! I've never heard of such a thing - a gay swimming group. But then again I've never gone looking for one.

Stick with the swimming and you'll eventually get back into shape. I'm now easily swimming 40 lengths when I go. When first went I was lucky to swim 20, and I was exhausted afterwards.

Glad you had a great time! If you keep joining in, soon it will just be a 'regular' thing, nothing to get nervous about.

Yes! I totally remember your older thread and I'm so glad you decided to give it another go. It's the kind of thing that seems so huge at first but once you're actually doing it it feels great!

    Congrats!

Now the hard part: getting in shape. (I'm sure you'll do fine there too :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:).

Good for you! I hope you can overcome your nervousness and just enjoy the group for what it is.
