I've been working on coming out to my son, and I didn't quite come out, but it was very close, and the conversation was a little funny. I was teasing him about having a crush on his teacher . . . Son, a little shyly: I do sometimes have crushes on girls. Me: You do? Son: Yep I forget what I asked next, something along the lines of why do you have crushes? Son: Well, how else am I going to find someone to marry and have kids? Me, poking at the subject again: What if I had a crush on a girl? Son: I wouldn't care, but only boys and girls can get married. Me, deciding the opportunity was too good to pass up: What if I wanted to marry a girl? Son, in the best line of the night: Well, go ahead, but you won't get a baby. You have to have a man to get a baby. (enter description of how babies are made)
ok. I was just wondering. Kids get subjected to stereotypes very fast. The get taught in school to be homophobic in some ways.
