Well last night I actually had the stones to come out to one of my cousins!!! He makes the first person in my family that knows now. It kinda started with me posting something on my Facebook page, he text messaged me after reading asking why i was posting something like that and wondering what was up. I told him that everything was fine. My mind was just in a murky and that getting it out helps me get back to normal. We exchanged a few messages most of which stating that if I ever needed to talk that he was available whenever, and also that my family loves me, which they do very much so, so I shouldn"t have anything to be afraid about. I then asked him how he felt about prop 8 and the gay marriage ban here in California, he told me that "Every human being deserves equal treatment" apparently he and his wife have a few close friends that are gay and they care about them very much. When I read that I knew I should tell him that I'm bi. To which he responded: "I have known for a while, assumed I should say." I was kinda taken aback by that text, apparently he's had his suspicions for a couple of years now. The fact that he is so chill about it puts me on cloud nine, since I kinda see him as an older brother (even though I don't have any older siblings lol). So yea I feel pretty good now that someone in my family knows! I feel like this warrants a few of these: (!!) (!!) (!!) (!!)
:thewave: is warranted too. Congrats. Here's hoping more positive coming outs outnumber the negative ones for the rest of your life.
Hey, congrats on coming out to your first family member - it's a big deal! :eusa_danc By the way you say how he's kinda like an older brother to you and given his support, I think he'll make a great ally in your future coming out endeavors. It's always good to have a support network that's totally on your side!
Yea I have thought about how is support will be kinda critical at times, he also said that if any one has a problem with it I should point them his direction lol.
I'm glad that it worked out for you. That seemed like a flawless execution! Congrats and I hope it works out as well for the rest of your family too.
