Yep, just came out to my parents like half an hour ago and i'm still shaking. My dad, who i thought would freak out, was surprisingly OK' but my mother started to cry it was really sad but i feel like a weight has been lifted!
Congrats! If you mom is having a difficult time you may want to give her the booklet 'Our Daughter, Our Son' by PFLAG. It a great resource.
Congratulations on coming out to your parents! It's a huge deal, and you'll feel so much better for it! Be patient with your mother and give her time to adjust to this new reality. It probably took you some time to get comfortable with your own sexuality, and it will take her some time to do the same, plus to modify some of the dreams she may have had for you. Be supportive and most importantly be resolute - show her that this is who you are and that's a fact. With time she'll probably come around.
Congrats. (*hug*) can you buy, rent or print off Coming Out resources from the net for parents? That might help. Tell them that you love them and that they might be having a tough time accepting it. And if you did too then tell them that as well. Then ask them to please read the resources (book, article, go tot he websites etc.) Like EM65 said, mention PFLAG or oanother organization for friends and parents of Gays and Lesbians. If there's one in your area, get in touch with them and get resources from them. Or find their local website in your area. (Google your city + PFLAG). Hang in there, the worst is probably over. And... hey, you're out to everyone. You're free now. ^_^ (!)
