I just sent a text message to my ex-wife and two daughters. I said "I have talked to enough people and Dr's. I know, I am Gay. If there are any questions just ask". They are on vacation in another state and I am a little nervous. It has been about half an hour and no one has called, or texted. So, I was married for 20 years, my girls are 16 and 18. We have been close including my ex wife. I live in the same community and visit every day with one of them. I hope it is ok just wanted to say I am out now. Wow, ceejay! That takes a lot of guts to come right out and say that. But it must be a liberating feeling! Be sure and let us know what the response(s) you get are, and stick around here! I think you'll find it to be a great place with a number of formerly-heterosexually-married guys that can share advice and thoughts and so forth.
First, congrats on being able to stay on such good terms with your ex post-divorce. That's so great for your girls. Unfortunately not everyone has the skills/good fortune to achieve that balance. So a big high-five on that front. Next, congrats on having the courage to come out to them. I'm sure though that given your close relationship with your girls, they will support you and be happy that you wanted to be open with them. Like everyone else, I'm pulling for you and looking forward to hearing what they say.
I talked to my 18 yr old by phone. She seems to be ok just a little nervous. We talked about a half hour about random subjects. Almost testing me to see if I was the same person as before. I hope things continue this way, I will write something when I see them face to face in three days or so, after vacation. Thanks to everyone for all the support and kindness.
Congrats. I know how you feel and it takes courage to tell them. Once they get used to the idea, everything should go back to normal.
