As they often are, it was rather anticlimactic. I would have liked to tell her sometime when we were alone and in person as she is visiting her parents (and me, really) for the first time in several years. As we both haven't had time to get together, we ended up chatting over Facebook tonight. We've known each other since before first grade, and I always kinda knew how our moms (more her mom) wanted us to get together in the end. With her single once again, and back in town I think that hope got rekindled. As we were talking about that, I asked her how she felt about it. (Totally me stalling as that still-persistent fear to come out bubbled up.) She hemmed and hawed some, saying she didn't really want her mother involved in her love life. Then she asked me how I felt about it. "Well, I'd hoped to say this in person--but I'm gay." I was 90% sure she wouldn't care--and she didn't. Which is a relief; I would've hated to lose my oldest friend. XD Now, just her mother... :icon_roll
Congratulations for coming out to your friend I hope her mother won't hold you a grudge for messing up with her marital plans
Telling online rather than in person wouldn't have been my first choice either, but it worked out well by the sound of it. Nice job and congratulations!
Congratulations! It's good to have all friends down! Best of luck with your not-prospective mother-in-law, though
