So the title says it all... I'm now out as a lesbian to my mum. And, she took it quite well. Although, doesn't quite seem to understand it.

I started with "what would you say if you had a son and he told you that he's gay" and she said "I'd ask where the hell he came from (she only has three daughters) and that it wouldn't make him any different a person than he was. why, are you a guy, or gay?" and then I said "well, I'm pretty damn sure I'm not a guy.. I don't even like them that much. Thing is, I'm a lesbian"

At that point, she kinda stopped.. And said "oh. But you like boys. Maybe you're bi" and I said "nope, I like one guy (not even sure I like him in that way) and I like girls way more" and she said "it's very trendy to be bi or lesbian right now" and I said "I'm not following a trend!!!"

And then, she said "I don't care what you are, as long as you're happy"

Successful coming out? I think so

One down, a lot to go... Might wait a bit...

And if being LGBT is "trendy," it looks like EC is the trendiest place in the world.

    Well done!

And remember, being trendy doesn't mean you're following a trend, necessarily. She probably meant you'll be ok these days. Like my parents said when I came out, Much better for you now than in our day, when it was illegal.

At first it sort of looked like she was going to pass it off as a "phase" but then she was like "oh, k."

    Congrats on everything!

No, she meant following a trend. Apparently heaps of girls are hooking up with girls to get guys, even though they're completely straight :/ The world's screwed up

There are so many girls at my school like that. So basically anyone who's a teenage bi/lesbian around here is seen as a trendfollower -__- Which sucks, because us who aren't faking get lumped into that category and not taken seriously.
