I've just come out to my first person today. He is a gay man about my age whom I met only once (he lives very far from me), but who became a friend over the internet. That was really, really hard for me to do. I thought I wouldn't be able to press the "send" button, but I did. I was literally shaking. He said he knew it already was incredibly friendly and supportive about it. Actually, he had kind of asked me if I was gay a while before, but I denied it. Now I feel only relieved. I know it's a small step, but I'm extremely happy I did it. It feels great to talk to someone (non-anonymously) about being gay. I can't wait until I'm ready to tell other people. Can I have a dancing banana emoticon now? :icon_bigg
I did it via instant messaging, actually, and it was pretty blunt. I just said that I'd like to talk to him and asked if he'd keep anything I said a secret. He said yes and I just said "I'm gay". He said "I know", and we talked for a while. He was actually happy that I'm gay. He says he finds it much easier to be friends with gay people than with heterosexuals.
You can have a lot of dancing bananas!!!! (!) (!) (!) (!) (!) (!) (!) (!) (!) Because what you did is amazing!
