came out to my girl scout troop!

    just came out of the closet to my girl scout troop of seven. we were camping and we decided to go around the circle and share a crapload of personal feelings and thoughts that nobody knows about.

    coming out was on my mind the entire night, and only one other person officially knew about me already (and she was there). i had originally decided not to do it...and then one of the girls shared a story about how her parents were getting a divorce and she almost committed suicide recently, and i thought...hell. if she can talk about that, i can talk about this.

    so when it was my turn, the girl that already knew was like "it's only four words. hm...hm...hm...hm-hm-hm." and very hesitatingly and painstakingly i managed to say it. i...am...a...lesbian. there was a silence, and then one of the girls was like..."now i can see why your boyfriend is bothering you so much." lol. (i've been trying to end my relationship with him for about a week now, it's just we haven't been able to hang out and i want to do it in person). and then i asked if anybody was surprised, or if any of them hadn't guessed it already, and not a single person raised their hand. (figures, lol.) another girl was like "i knew the day i met you in third grade." others had made bets. but everybody was so accepting and basically like "whatever, we already knew... way to be the last one to figure it out... but we love you anyway :grin: "

    so yeah. just wanted to share. i feel fantastic. and liberated. and just...happy. it's great to be accepted like that. *sigh of relief*

    Congratulations! (*hug*) It's always so nice to just finally say those words & have people be OK with it! It's also really great that you have more people you can just be yourself around now too!!! Hope everything works out when you finally are able to speak with your bf, & I hope he understands too...

    Congrats I wish I was able to come out like that. I used to be in girl scouts but I dropped out.

    Congrats! Seems like a pretty good response, It sounds like it went pretty well if you were able to come out and nobody reacted badly, I'm a bit jealous of those results.

    Though, I hear people in California have more brains than people here in Georgia. :lol:
