After much debate, I finally let my mum tell my dad. I was far too scared to tell him myself and in person, so she said she would do it for me. Luckily for me, I was away for a week and a half, so that was a great opportunity to tell him and let him get over it before I got back. Funnily enough, it was just as well I was away as apparently, he wasn't too pleased to hear I was gay. He was fuming and ripped me apart. Thank goodness I was not here for that. Messaging my mum while I was away, I was able to keep track of how things were going, and within a few days, he had calmed down and realised how little things had changed. when I got back, things were very awkward and he never approached me until the second day. He basically said that he now knew and that when he initially found out, his actions were incredibly selfish and he was not thinking about the situation as a whole, rather what being a son meant to him. He said he still loved me and even though he wasn't exactly happy with me being gay, he was okay with it and accepts me for who I am. We have talked about it, albeit awkwardly, but I expected nothing less. Success? I think so! My mum also told my 18 year old sister. Needless to say she was all 'meh' and didn't care in the slightest. We are really close anyway and she now see's me as more of an adult knowing what I am going through. Here's to finally being honest to those around you and having a place to go for support.
That is way cool!!!!!! I'm so glad that your father had some time to figure it out and work through his emotions before you got home. Kudos to your mom for being the front runner. Now you can relax and move forward.
Congrats Jason! Your Dad will come around. He's opened his heart and mind to the person that is REALLY you. Keep the conversation going and everything will be fine!
Congratulations! By the sounds of it your dad was just shocked at first, the more it sinks in, the less of an issue it will be I'm sure. Well done
Awwww thanks guys! It's really amazing to think how well it did go. Far far better than what I expected. :icon_bigg
