I became really close with a friend of a friend recently. And I thought I was sending her signals to show her that I was gay, but she ended up asking me out when we were talking online. I didn't want to seem like a jerk, so I finally ended up admitting it to her. It was weird at first (not that she's homophobic or anything, but it was an awkward situation), but we're still close now and talk all the time lol. So not only did I come out, but I also got complimented LOL.
