So here's to story. I was in my homeroom, and we heard over the announcements that we were going to be assigned seats in the auditorium that we would have to sit in every time we went there. This was so that we could go right to the auditorium during homeroom and our teachers could take attendance there. This would save time and allow more time for the presentation. Before this was put in, we were simply told to sit with our homeroom, but we all just went there and sat with our friends. No one liked the idea of not being able to sit with their friends. It was an opportunity for humor that I could not pass up. I said loud enough for every to hear without being loud enough to seem like I was looking for attention, "Wow, this is gayer than I am."

Everyone in the room start laughing, and the teacher just stared at me and said, "I do not know what to say to that." She later told us she wished she had a book so that she could write down funny things students have said. I got no negative reaction from anyone, so I'd say it went well. Some people may think I was abandoning the GLBT community by saying this, but looking back, I don't regret it.

i can see how some people here might discount that as perpetuating the whole "that's so gay" mentality, but myself? I find it funny

    and congratulations!

Awesome way of coming out! =D

Coming out in a non-stressful or light-hearted situation seems to work best, because then it doesn't really seem like a big deal.

    Great work there!

I don't think there's anything wrong with coming out this way. As said above, making lite of it is probably better - it doesn't need to be a heavy, serious discussion.

On a number of occassions, I've been able to laugh at things I've done and attribute them to me being gay - sometimes it's laugh or cry - and I choose to laugh!
