I finally did it, tonight I told both my parents and they took it quite well. My mom was just like "yeah, surprise..." and my dad sat quietly for half an hour, but when he left he just said "don't think this gets you out of giving us grandchildren with the family name" (I'm the only boy out of three girls), so it's great that they both took it so comfortably. That was also one of my biggest concerns, not that they'd reject me, but they would treat me slightly different and I would never be able to go back to the sort of amiable relationship that we've had previously, so I'm incredibly glad that that's not the case. God, it's so great to get that off my chest and be done with perhaps one of the biggest hurdles of my life, so yay, I'm happy!

That's really great and it sounds like everything is going to be ok, which is brilliant!! Congratulations, must have taken loads of courage, but now you've done it and you don't have to go through that with your parents ever again, but get to just be yourself!!

Congrats! That was funny that your dad said it doesn't get you out of giving them grandchildren. Parents say the darndest things sometimes.

Shveet. Nice job. I'm really scared of telling my parents. Like, they already pretty much know (it doesn't help that my sister is like: "SO. LET'S GO SHOPPING. 'COS YOUR GAY. DID EVERYONE HEAR THAT? YOU. LOVE. MEN." well, she doesn't do just that, but she might as well be) but still, the thought of making it official sortof makes me wet myself.

Thanks all! I'm really happy, it couldn't have turned out better. Of course, after telling my parents, I realized that I wasn't out to as many friends as I thought. But oh well, the biggest hurdle is done!
