    My mothers response was... And?

My father's response was, slightly paraphrased... Is that all? I'm busy cooking... I'll pass you back to your mother...

And here was me expecting at least a discussion.

So yeah, I am now out to my parents. It was a spur of the moment thing and not something that I worked myself up to particularly... although obviously I've thought about it a lot.

I feel strangely liberated, far more than I ever felt coming out to a friend.

I got asked later if I had a boyfriend, was I was sexually active and was there anything that they could do for me.

So... Err... Awesome... I'm out :icon_bigg

    Congratulations.

Do you think their taking the news with such laxity is a sign that they'd expected it for years?

I'll ask but I think that it would be reasonable to expect so.

    Soo... i'll ask later...

Either that, or they genuinely couldn't care less. (Which I think is unlikely!)

So I wonder what gave it away? Perhaps me never discussing relationships was enough...

I think out parents normally know far more about us than we would think or like to admit.

I wonder if in cases where it's taken badly it is because they truly haven't realised and they feel that their son/daughter is not the person they thought they knew - and that's difficult.

True. I know my Mom knows about me (as far as I guess), but I wont tell her "Pssssh mom, I'm gay" over the phone, XD

Great to know you're out :eusa_clap

Congratulations! I'm so pleased it went so well.

It'll be interesting to know what your mum says about them already guessing when you next speak to her.

This kind of coming out might suck for us these days, but 100 years from now I hope all coming outs are like this.
