After a looooooooot of debating, I decided to come out on FB through a status. I used the privacy settings to stop family members from reading it, though, as I'm not ready to tell them yet. My words were along the lines of:

"This isn't a frape or anything, I'm not joking - I am gay. If you've gonna say any remarks or stupid comments, just leave it. I can't change who I am. I felt this was the easiest way to do this. I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell my family and just accepted me for who I am. =D"

I've got quite a few likes on my status, and many "congratulations!" etc. messages too. I also got one "are you joking?" No hateful stuff (yet).

    =D I'm so happy!(!)

    Congrats, that's pretty great!
Just saying, people may think you're joking, because plenty of people's friends' hack their accounts and jokingly post this, so they may not know if it's true yet. But they will!
But nevertheless, I'm happy for you! :icon_bigg

Well I'm actually kinda glad that someone was shocked. I dislike being predictable.

I was on chat to my pushy female close friend, and I kept updating her on the situation, and she was like 'do it do it do it do it', and I finally did it after about 20 mins.

Thanks for the support, guys!

    That's one way :thewave:

    :eusa_clap

The plusses I see in that coming out is that you had time to ponder your phrasing; you don't impose your coming out to people (They'll go read it if they are interested), and it's a good trigger for conversations further on, where you're more likely to answer their questions and therefore come out to them individually!!
