I'm wearing a gay pride ring to school today, and I hope to keep wearing it throughout the year. For most people in my school, it's going to be their first realization that I'm gay if they see me wearing the ring. I feel like I'm walking into a catastrophe. :icon_sad: I'll be posting about how the day goes at the end of today. So, I'm leaving soon. Any last words of advice?
Hi there! First off, remember that you would not be wearing the ring if a part of you would not feel comfortable wearing it to school and for others to see. Somewhere within you, you know that your friends (at least) will be accepting or won't say something against it. Just be yourself, wearing the ring. Talk with your friends as you would normally do. Let us know how it all turns out. Hope all goes well for you!
Hey, it all turned out really well! Mostly because nothing happened! I only got one comment about the ring, and it wasn't even about the fact that it was a gay pride ring. Someone just said, "Oh, you're wearing a ring. Can I see it?" And then got distracted by something else. Otherwise, nobody seemed to notice. So I'm really comfortable knowing that it's nice and subtle. I'm sure some people noticed today, but I'm glad nobody freaked out. All in all, a pretty good day.
Glad to read you had a pretty good day! Even though not too many people seemed to have noticed, still be proud of the fact that you went through with it!
