I am now talking with my mom about my sexuality  OMG I would have NEVER thought this would happen a year ago! Now it's to my dad to slowly accept it!

Congrats. I came out to my mom when I was a couple years older than you (at least with my orientation). I imagine it wasn't easy. It's really cool that she's accepting and you can talk to her about it. Congrats!

thanks everyone for the comments. it took a year for us to feel comfortable talking about it. she said my dad has lost a son and like i cleared that miss-conception up. she feels more comfortable with it and said they just need more time.

Just reading through your response, it is normal for parents to feel that they have "lost their son [or daughter]." It is great that by talking with your mom you cleared up that misconception.

There is a good book for parents who need time and/or are struggling with coming around and understanding it. The book, which is inexpensive and can be found on Amazon, is entitled Now that You Know. It might be a good resource for your dad and you mom to have as they keep talking with you and trying to come around. PFLAG has also some pretty good online resources.

    This is really great, congrats!!!

Adding to what Mirko mentioned, here is one of the pamphlets that PFLAG makes to help parents out. It might be something that your parents might be interested in
