Not sure if this should go here, or in coming out. Maybe the moderators can decide and move it if they think it should be. Early yesterday morning (coming out day) I posted a message to Facebook, and G+ that I was gay, and happily married to my partner, effectively coming out to all who did not know already. A short time later a long time friend of mine from when I was in the US Army, even before DADT, posted this to Facebook: So today is National Coming Out Day, I saw posted by a buddy of mine. So, let me come out. I grew up in a small, small town in West Texas. I was raised in a southern baptist home and joined the military and saw the world. I have my morals and belief system. That being said. Every soul has the right to their beliefs, I have served to protect this freedom for you and my buddy did too. I know we would both do it again. No one deserves to keep themselves a secret from their family, friends and community. Please love your neighbor as you want them to love you, even if they don't believe everything you believe. God, I love my family, friends and community and I pray that you watch over each and every one of them and help us all to be tolerant of one another as we were created in your image. Amen. Peace, love and pup y'all. It has since been commented on 14 times, and liked 27 times. All of it positive. The buddy he is speaking of in his post is of course me.
Thanks for sharing this inspiring coming out story. It is wonderful that your friend decided to come out, and that your post encouraged him to do so.
