I've been accepted into my dream college for next year! Yay! And on the sign in forms I put my female name on the paperwork. My parents were in on that orientation day and I didnt know how to say that I wanted to be called George in front of them! I had been mulling it over for weeks, really upset that I would be called Georgia and not George. So today I called the college and asked them to change the name on the paperwork to George and... They agreed!! I am so happy! I may've just outed myself as trans to the entire campus but I dont care! I am just thrilled that I will be called my male name at that school! I am over the moon!! (!)(!)(!)(!)
LOL. congrats! but no. college is too big to be out entirely too lol. you have people graduating next semester or year that they don't care or something lol. but good luck with school!
Congrats. Out to the entire college or not, that was a gutsy call to make. Way to be true to yourself
yeaaaaahhh!!! ---------- Post added 15th Dec 2012 at 01:37 AM ---------- Not want to take any thunder from you...but to share I got an LGBTQ advocate at school calling two staff groups, and my student therapist on behalf of my mental health for being trans also contacting school officials... to try to change the system in 5 weeks so my birth name like yours can drop 2 letters and be not so female. I think it is a fair compromise. So we both were brave and did similar things...coming out telling our school we have a right to our chosen names that are slightly different than our mom's gave us. yea for bravery!
Congrats George! You have a beautiful name:icon_bigg My name's Patricia, very plain :icon_sad: I'm glad they accepted, I cannot be as brave as you.. :eusa_clap
Hey Patricia, I think you are braver than you realize. It took guts to join EC and participate. Hang in there, I know from my very limited experience that things do get better and easier. George is a perfect example.
Just want to add my congrats to the chorus! I can't even imagine how fantastic you must feel. Such a big step, and I think you will face the ones to come just as bravely!
Damned, dude!! That's awesome... I thought you were genderqueer... Oh, well... A public coming out sounds quite interesting. BTW, you look very handsome in your new avatar picture.
I just joined EC and this post just made me cry (in a good way)! I guess you really do have to count all of the little triumphs. Congrats, George!
