Hey all, I'm new here obviously. I figured I'd share my coming out story, which really couldn't have gone any better. Two nights ago, a friend an I (whos also gay, hes actually a member here!) were out eating dinner. The topic of me not being out came up and he decided right there that we were going to my house to tell my mom, and he wouldn't take no for an answer. Well I'm glad he didn't, because it was the best decision ever. We went to my house where we all sat and talked to my mom for a bit. Our idea was that he'd mention his "boyfriend" and then have to "go to the bathroom" so I could ask my mom about it and get the vibe from her. Well the vibe was great, so I took said friend home. Come home, and my mom mentions how I have a lot of gay friends. Well thats when I finally told her, and she took is so well. Was totally accepting and wondered why I was so scared to tell her in the beginning! Well as of today both of my sisters know now as well, and both of them were completely supportive as well. I cannot believe it took me this long to do it. I didn't think my family would have a problem with it but its still kind of a big deal. I feel SOOO relieved now though, it was definitely a big weight off my shoulders. You could DEFINITELY say I was one of the lucky ones to have a supportive family, I couldn't be happier.
Thanks guys! Family was my biggest hurdle to get over. As far as friends go, time will tell whos ACTUALLY my friend once they find out.
