I've been going to the same Alanon group for 10 years (Alanon is for families of alcoholics/addicts) This is a group I've shared many tears with, and joys. But nothing About my sexuality questioning One young guy in the group (whom I don't know that well) shared about how his husband (yes!) was off the wagon and he told him he was leaving him. And then miracles happened and they have reconnected I was so moved, I went up to him ( and others were talking to him. Too). To offer support and share how my being open with my ex wife (also Alcoholic and struggling with major depression) made such a shift in our parenting. As part of the convo I said that I'm gay, and I've finally been Able to share that with her, no secrets. Great folks to talk with. Didn't come out to the whole group. My kids deserve to know before I'm more widely out. It sure does get better.
