Good news: Told my aunt! She was very against it from the first time I told her and she told me she believed I was in a "Stage" and I was "Confused". She told me I needed a Girlfriend to experience and then I'll like that. I told her it is not a stage and it is not something I decided to be, it's something that came with me and I'm like that. She is very, *very* religious and I explained my thoughts about catolicism and homosxuality. She told me that she was just going to respect my decision. Bad news: Couldn't tell my dad The opportunity never came and well, trip is over and my dad still doesn't know. But I just won't tell him quite yet. My aunt was my goal today.... sorta... lmao! and I did it By the way, I handled her a PFLAG document on "How to accept your son is gay" because she considers me as one of her adoptive sons
I'm glad your aunt didn't overdo it with the whole religious-ness to you. And I'm sure you'll have more chances to tell your dad, so keep a smiling face that you at least told someone today And CONGRATS!
Congrats dude for coming out! It seems that your aunt has the same response as my parents - that they will say it's a phase. However, i explained to them that it is not a phase and it won't disappear or whatever it is. I'm glad that your aunt accepts you.
Excellent stuff about your aunt! Although she has these problems now, hopefully she will overcome them with your help. Just keep being understanding, calm and mature.
Hopefully the PFLAG brochure will help your aunt understand you a little better but so far, so good! Good luck with your Dad!
Thanks everyone I was going to tell my dad this wednesday on my birthday but I guess itll take a little longer since my aunt gave me all the support from my family that I needed so far. So we'll see what happens
