So I actually summoned up the courage to come out to one of my friends who I'd suspected knew I was gay already anyway. I wrote a rather long pessimistic email about lots of random stuff and finished it saying that I'm gay and asked him not to hate me for it (just in case I was wrong about what he thought of having a gay friend, which is always a possibility). But it turns out I was exactly right and he ended his reply email with this:

And for those wondering, yes I did know that Natalie liked me (she's about as subtle as a Russian artillery barrage) but I managed to play dumb to her advances most of the time and so we're still friends but she never tried to ask me out.

Thanks to everyone here at EC, I couldn't have done it without you. (!)

Congrats! A big step you should be proud! You're gonna need to change your out status, too!

Well, one person down! Huge accomplishment on saying (or typing, but the "press send part is the difficult part here) those two words and your feelings
Yes, it's not good to keep'em bottled up. It'll get easier everytime you say it. Good luck

Thanks everyone. Yeah he is a really cool friend. And the way he said YOU AM WHO YOU AM isn't because he has bad grammar, it's just that he puts on a dufus voice and speaks like that whenever he's trying to cheer someone up.

Thanks again to everyone here. :eusa_danc
