This Olympic Skater Is Out And Proud, Even In Russia

I'm not going to quote it because it's a Buzzfeed which as many know is a mixture of pictures and text and you kind of need both to do it. He's quite the cutie and I admire him for being out while also being a soon-to-be Olympian. I just hope he stays safe.

Yeah, he is kind of cute

I have such amazing respect for people who are in the public eye and still do so much for the LGBT movement, especially in circumstances where it would be much easier for him personally to not do so. I hope he doesn't become a martyr but the fact that he is willing to be is admirable!

Blake went around the country a year or two ago, visiting a bunch of schools to talk to the kids about queer bullying; he really is a great guy.
Hopefully he can draw some attention to the situation in Russia. (Preferably without him being in harm's way, but if he's willing...)

Funny thing is, I could see Russia arresting, fining, and deporting all LGBT athletes like him, causing Russia to be disqualified from all Olympic events, the winter Olympics being rescheduled, and Russia being banned from competing. >_>

Oooo I hope so. It'd be nice for their economy to further decline by losing all the money it would've brought in.
