I'm not a Dan Savage fan, but I respect him for getting this going! Hopefully it will affect Russia's income enough to make them stop and think...

"completely out of step with the rest of Europe"

Russia may be the most publicly drastic but I'm fairly sure there are quite a few other countries in Eastern Europe who are not very tolerant of LGBT people.

Nice to see things moving forward for other parts of the world outside of Western Europe and North America.

As for Africa and Russia....by the time they get anywhere near equality I'll be dead.

I don't know how LGBT people should feel about this. This isn't a very clear stance on homosexuality he's taking. To me it sounds more like he's trying to be popular with everyone, without excluding gay people. It is like he is saying: I'm not in a place to judge you, but our faith says it's wrong. Then again, it's obviously better than having a pope who openly opposes homosexuality...

If Syria is taken over by the jihadists the USA is supporting I'm pretty sure if one is gay they will have to hide in fear of their life.

Yeah it happened in Iraq. When Iraq was invaded gay men were persecuted so badly.

It'll happen everywhere in the Middle East. Every time a government falls Islamists are going to have a crack at creating another Iran.
