LGBT News 1% of New Zealand students say they are trans*

    GayNZ.com Study: One per cent of NZ students are trans (hope the adverts on the side aren't too suggestive)

    It also found 4% of students say they are attracted to the same sex, while 4% aren't sure or are asexual.

    Interesting. Wonder if similar studies have been done in other countries. Also, I think some people lied on the orientation question because I'm sure that more than merely 8% of teenagers struggle with their sexuality.

    Wow. Much higher than any other numbers I've heard, the 1% number at any rate.

    Yeah probably. Although most estimates seem to be between 1 in 20 and 1 in 10, and 4-8% is within that.

    I know it seems small, but 1% trans seems to be a huge number.

    But then again I do believe New Zealand to be a far more tolerant, accepting and all embracing society than most others, including those across the ditch is Australia, so the figures maybe indicative of reality if other cultures and societies were as open.

    These statisitcs dont mean anything. Trans is a confused label. A lot of people co opt it.
