I've never understood this idea of giving someone life plus [insert number]. Life means until they die, anyway.

But if I were him, I wouldn't have taken the plea deal.

Its just symbolic, since he has committed hundreds of crimes they have to put a sentence on each of them.

I'd rather be put to sleep than spend the rest of my life in a US prison as well.

I find the 1,000 years hilarious. Just it's so random but ok.

Hopefully his fellow inmates will be giving him 1000 years' worth of his own medicine

Saw the title and assumed it was gonna be a member of Fidel's family. Also, why would he rather spend his whole life in prison rather than just be killed? That makes no sense to me.

    Everyone dies.

I don't really believe he 'deserves to die' or anything. My reasoning is that while people choose their course of action, in this case, to kidnap and torture women, they only choose because of some outside force. Either their experiences, which cause them to act a certain way, or a problem with their brain or a mental illness. Or else why do they do it? People aren't born evil. So no, I don't believe he should die. Unless he wants to. He should be imprisoned because he poses a risk to society.

I'm not a violent person and don't take murder lightly, but in clear cut instances like this where there is an admission of guilt combined with irrefutable evidence of the crimes so heinous, some consideration should be given to the death penalty because living, even imprisoned, is too good for some people.

There is no amount of time or punishment long enough or severe enough for this disgusting sick twisted sub-human piece of shit. The word monster is too god for him.

I vote they do not put him in any special unit or solitary, and just throw him into general, and say "have at him boys; only rules are no stabbing, strangling, or killing."

the guards can just look away while every prisoner who chooses to uses him as their prison wife.

The issue with the death penalty in Ohio is that the state is running out of the drugs needed to end somebody's life humanly. Also there is a large backlog of people waiting for their time to come. Many of the people on the list will die before their date comes.

So, the death penalty in Ohio is like a life sentence.

there also is the massive issue is that life in prison is costs less for someone who will be there 30-50 years than it does to keep a person on death row for 5-10 years. the economical thing to do is just abolish the death penalty, and give no chance for parole.

Life sentences are often reduced bit by bit, and end up as only a decade or two. Life plus a thousand years makes his release almost impossible, and his incarceration an actual life sentence.

You can simply give life without parole if necessary. The thousand years thing seems almost childish.

That's actually quite twisted to think that way.
