LGBT News Southern California doctor diagnoses man's homosexuality as "chronic condition"

    Wow.

    So this news story describes how a fortysomething guy went to a new physician for a physical, and when he received his medical report, it listed him as having "homosexual behavior" as a diagnosis and "homosexual behavior" again as a "chronic condition."

    Apparently he approached the doctor, who didn't give a satisfactory response, and then wrote the health care provider's corporate office... who quickly blamed it on a "coding error" and apologized.

    But the doctor apparently refused to speak to them. Not terribly surprising; the guy's probably a religious bigot.

    It's just sad that someone in the medical profession would do this in 2013. The patient who reported it said his reason for reporting was so no one else, perhaps a kid just coming to terms with being gay, will have this same thing happen to them.

    Isn't that illegal, now that it's not federally listed as a disease?

    Also, OF FUCKING COURSE IT'S CHRONIC. What, did the doctor expect the patient to be "cured" and all of a sudden like girls? :lol:

    The man is far too nice for not having made that doctor's name public. A public "hanging" would've been appropriate for the damage she may have caused to other gay individuals.

    Doctors can be huge jackasses about this. I went in for like an ear infection last year and this doctor just blurts out, "Standard question, gay or straight?"....WTF? It's like, I realize you're just my HMO's bitch, but it's still none of your business!

    But yeah, CA isn't anywhere near progressive. Of course there'll be homophobic doctors here and there.
