I think it's upsetting that such a big organisation like the Olympic Committee doesn't have the balls to stand up to what is going on within Russia. So what if their rules say no, injustice is happening, and they have the potential to be a decently big influence. Then again, I expect it's run by bigwigs who just want to get more money and doesn't actually care for the athletes or viewers who may be harmed by everything going on in Russia.

The idea that sexuality and homophobia is a 'political' issue is just stupid. Ultimately, we're people, and politics should just go stuff themselves.

Plus the idea that athletes can't stand up for what is right, and what they believe themselves (like the gay speed skater), is just hideous. Why can't he stand up for his own rights?

all people see is just two people of the same gender. why can't the russians see two people in love. also, if a kid in russia is gay, they can't stop him just by not telling him what homosexuality is.

The IOC and games may well be funded / benefit from major commercial sponsors but those commercial entities usually aim their products at the younger generation who are more supportive of LBGTQ people. Perhaps those commercial sponsors should be the ones targeted for their complicit support, rather than the IOC. Hurt them where it counts … in the wallet.
