LGBT News Russian Olympian Condemns Homosexuality

    The article goes on about a pole vault champion who openly said some words against the gay community. I don't have a problem when people have their own opinions about our community. You're aloud to think what you want, but when you say things like, "we consider ourselves like normal, standard people" you're implying that homosexuals are neither of the two. That we're different than them. & yes, we should respect the hosting country, but at what point do we say, "wow, you're country has some horrible rules"? The Olympics are the games of the WORLD. And in the world, there are gay people as much as they want to keep denying it or whatever...

    & I have a really bad habbit of reading the comments on the Yahoo! articles. Full of disgusting human beings. Most of them agreeing with this woman and even going further to say that we're sick and freaks...

    I remember reading an article on yahoo about Trayvon Martin. Most of the commenters said Trayvon deserved to die and Zimmerman is a hero.

    Yahoo seems to be a breeding ground for racist and bigoted religious conservatives.

    This completely transcends criminalisation of homosexuality for me. Fine, the IOC don't want to get involved with the politics of the discrimination laws being set up in their host country. However, discrimination is one thing. Turning a blind eye to mobs of neo-Nazis luring and murdering teenage boys is quite another. Russia are clearly and spectacularly violating human rights, and for the IOC to say they don't want to get involved in politics as extreme as those is just despicable. This athlete should be disqualified right off the bat.
