    Kasparov... well... Apart from his belief in seriously kooky Russocentric revisionist history, and the fact he's in Russian politics at all, is fairly OK. Better than 90% of what passes for opposition in Russia.

    Which is the biggest Russia's problem. Putin may be a thug with good PR, but alternatives to him are even less appealing: either incompetent or dishonest or both.
