And Putain (deliberately misspelt) claims that LGBT individuals aren't discriminated against. WHAT THE FUCK!

With the massive amount of Russian children in orphanages with little hope of a future and a public service that provides them next to nothing, this is just going to exasperate the problem.

Oh, and literally kidnapping children from their parents for having a simple and unchangeable characteristic. Fascism seems to be fashionable in the Russian parliament.

Hope Russians get to experience what it's like being second class citizens somehow.

This and the other laws meant to "protect children" seem to be doing an awful lot of harm to those children who are...different.

Russia is one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to protecting their children, how convenient that LGBT folk are around to blame for this situation.

People love to scapegoat. Minorities are easy targets for pathetic, frustrated people to take their anger out on.

Here in Romania, recently, a 4-year-old boy was mauled by some stray dogs. The 4-year-old had gone to the park with his grandmother. The grandmother had started gossiping with a friend, and forgot all about the boy. The boy wondered around the park for 45 minutes, after which he exited the park and stumbled on a private lot where the dogs were being starved and used a guard dogs by the owner (had they been registered guard dogs, the result would've been the same). Who is to blame in this situation? Why everyone here's shouting: "THE DOGS! DEATH TO ALL DOGS! DEATH TO ANIMAL LOVERS!" I am not exaggerating by the way. The overwhelming majority of comments on the articles are saying exactly that. And blame's also being thrown to the owner of the lot (justified), but none to the main culprit: the irresponsible grandmother who was too busy gossiping to realize that her grandson had been missing for almost an hour. And why is that? Because it's easy to blame some mindless animals than admit your own faults (not like there aren't many parents as irresponsible as that old woman). And the worst part is that the media is fueling the people's stupidity, rather than being responsible. As a response, the government's gonna have a referendum soon on whether all stray dogs should be killed or not. What the results will be is obvious.

I mentioned the above, because it reminds me of what is happening in Russia currently with the gays. The anti-gay laws past soon after the media frenzy around that American gay couple who adopted a Russian kid and abused him. No one of course mentioned the uncountable cases of heterosexuals abusing their kids (why I remember a case years ago of a straight couple starving their adopted daughter to death because they had had a biological child and no longer wanted her). Or how heterosexuals repeatedly sexually abuse children in Russian orphanages, sometimes even forcing them into prostitution. But no, it's easy to channel all your failures and frustrations into a single entity, often a defenseless minority that has little to do with the situation in the first place, and then persecute them and make yourself feel like you're "doing something about it".
