Let's hope Chris Christie doesn't fight this, though. I'm wondering what he'll do.

"Her order says the marriages could begin Oct. 21, which gives the state time to appeal and ask for a stay to block marriages from happening.

Gov. Chris Christie is opposed to gay marriage, but his administration has not said yet whether it will appeal."

I'm very happy to see this, though it might not be over yet.

Maybe he'll have a heart attack, or a stroke.

Some doctor in Arizona a while back went on CNN and said that if he became President, that with the stress of his job, he wouldn't make it to the midterm elections before dying.

Christie was pretty pissed off over that remark, saying "You're not my doctor, how would you know that?!? My children came to me and were asking, 'Daddy are you gonna die?'"

Yes, children, daddy is going to die someday. And you will too. And so will I.

Yeah, the definition of an "Activist Judge" is any judge who makes a ruling based on the Constitution and not the Bible.

Chris Christie's office has announced that they plan to appeal this case to the State Supreme Court. Disgusting piece of crap has no business being in a position of power - he and people like him sicken me.

But I digress, today is not a day for rage, it's a day for happiness for the LGBT people of New Jersey who won a great victory today! Congratulations to Jerseyites everywhere!

Something told me that this blustery old windbag would do this. What a waste of taxpayer time and money...

But you're right, it is a day to celebrate, as the court will rule against him.

It's just stupid that he'd use such a cheap tactic, but I suppose that if he runs for president he has to show how conservative he is.

Overall, though, this is good news, as similar cases are pending in various states, such as Pennsylvania.

Once PA goes, then all the coastal states from Maryland north will have legal marraige...though in the south, things look bleak. I was talking to some friends at a pub last night, and we agreed: The new Mason-Dixon line is now drawn at Virginia, along the Potomac, and that Maryland is now (un)oficially northern.

    [panic]WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE![/panic]

On a more serious note, I kinda hope the state does appeal, so the ruling can be affirmed.

Yay! Maybe people will stop looking at me like they're completely confused when I say I have a wife and live in NJ. People can't seem to comprehend that you can indeed move after you get legally married.

I find it funny that I thought to run a Google news search on "gay marriage" less than an hour after this decision was made. We'll see how this one runs its course. Cool that this happens the same day that an Illinois court allows lawsuits on their gay marriage ban to proceed to the state court level. A couple of "some progress has been made" announcements, though both could end up being shot down. :/

Christie is a pig all right. SSM has massive public support in that state, the legislature overwhelmingly passed a bill legalizing it, and he still vetoes. He is more of an "activist judge" than any judge I've heard of on this issue. It's just sad and pathetic in every way, because it's only delaying the inevitable. Couple there will probably continue to have to wait until SCOTUS rules on this in 5 years, unless they override the veto. That's how crappy our system of government is.

This is great news. Very happy for all the people in New Jersey, and I think this sets a great precedent for courts in other states to follow. I really hope this doesn't somehow get overturned by Christie.

Good news and the right decision. I hope the courts in all the other states with non-marriage unions will make the same decision. As mentioned, the sad part is who knows how long the appeals process will drag this out and continue denying equality.

The sickening thing is that were it not for him, same sex marriage would have been legal in New Jersey years ago [it passed the legislature and he vetoed it].

Pennsylvania and Illinois both, plus New Mexico and countless others. The tide is turning. Honestly it's going to take a Supreme Court decision to tackle the South, but the rest of the country seems to be slowly moving our way.
