Sen. Ted Cruz Vows Not To Raise Nation

Yes, he is seriously saying that he wants Obama, leader of what would now be the Union, to sign a document claiming the South won the Civil war over 100 F**KING years ago!!!

Me along with many other Texans, have disowned this idiot...

    Don't worry, it's satire.

Not that he doesn't believe it, but this is a satirical article.

Yeah, this is satire, but scarily believable... glad to see the junior senator from Texas and 95th most senior senator lead the fight to shut down the government. /sarcasm

I'm game, as long we make him the President of the south. We all remember what happened to the the last President that won the civil war.

It's Ted Cruz, that's almost believable.

It's not believable at all, but this forum is pretty far-left and so I suspect most of you would very much like to believe something like this about Senator Cruz.

I know it's satire, but it still almost sounds like something he'd say. He's insane.

Ted Cruz is a raving, bigoted, sexist loon. He thinks birth control is a form of abortion...the man is a paranoid, delusional, right-wing religious maniac. If too many people like him got into power, we'd be moving towards a 'Christian' version of Iran.

    No thanks.

Well, at least we can thank him (and others) for helping to steer so many women away from voting Republican.

    Thanks, Ted!

(so much for the 'rebranding' effort)

I think Tea Party Republicans have helped millions of Republicans become Democrats. At least I hope so.

Not the brightest statement around. Not every conservative/Republican trashes gay people. In fact, there are a decent amount of Republicans on this site, including me.

As for Cruz running for president, he certainly wouldn't beat out someone like Christie, Paul, Ryan, or maybe even Bob McDonnell (who's one of my top choices), and a few others.

By the way, Bush and Cruz aren't even in the same planet in terms of ideology. Bush was pretty liberal in a lot of ways.

But none-the-less the younger Bush was still a total idiot and a conservative nutcase whom the rest of the world laughed at. Conservatism may have one or two good points, but they come with the terrible ideology of hate and inequality that almost all conservative parties bring with them.

Bush wasn't a traditional conservative though. He was a neoconservative, which is different than traditional conservatism. He was also idealist in the sense that he thought the United States could somehow completely eradicate terrorism in the Middle East. Didn't help that Bush had a lot of neocons surrounding him in his administration as well. Most traditional conservatives are realists.

His prescription drug program? Far from conservative. No Child Left Behind? Nowhere near conservative. Bush's overall spending? Yeah, not conservative. What Bush did do that was conservative was his big tax cuts. Problem is, you can't have massive tax cuts while also spending recklessly on a war and domestically.

Conservatism certainly has its flaws, but liberalism definitely does as well. A balanced approach is best.

Well. the Republicans are becoming less and less popular among women, minorities, and the young, yet they seem bent on protecting the interests of older, white males. Things that help minorities, the poor, the disenfranchised---not so much. And Christie is far from being all that 'moderate': He's an opportunist, back-room-dealing, line his pockets with cash wind-bag. I'm glad we have Martin O'Malley, and not him.

I doubt the Republicans will be able to arrive at a 'moderate' candidate in 2016, because of how far somuch of the party has drifted. Unless they get rid of at least half their members, they're going to come off as loonies from back in times, attempting to create some kind of theocracy.

I'd also worry if Christie would be able to handle the stress of being President, given his being so massively overweight and his blustery temper; I'd worry he might have a stroke or a heart-attack at some crucial moment.

Stop before this turns into replies of logical fallacies. Neither of you will change each other's opinion. We don't need *another* political argument on the internet.

No one's arguing, nor are we close to doing so.

We're merely discussing a topic on a forum, which is precisely what a message board is for.
