  2. That's just fantastic. Now I need to stop eating my favorite candy or feel really guilty if I do eat it.

That's why I like the starburst brand jelly beans. Jelly Belly is gross.

This really hits close to home. :/ I don't know how much good it will do, but I'm going to write a letter:

Mail address (all consumer mail goes to Fairfield):

    Herman Rowland Sr.
    Jelly Belly Candy Company
    One Jelly Belly Lane
    Fairfield, CA 94533

I fully encourage you to do this.

It's easy to feel apathetic. Hopeless. But think it like this:

You have a hundred-sided dice, and one chance to get 100.

The odds are stacked against you - sure. But, if you don't even TRY to roll the dice, you reduce your chances of success to zero.

This is why I think it's worth it.

    ----

Seriously though...taking the time to organize a campaign for such a thing? Do they really have nothing better to do?

I know that 'separation of church and state' is popular, but to be honest what I think we need today is 'separation of corporation and state'. Money is the new religion, it seems.

This guy has long been a right-wing, ultra-conservative. The company were always huge Reagan/Bush supporters.

Here a piece from 2012, New York Times:

So I'm sad, but not surprised. He's long been anti-LGBT rights. This is why I just don't trust Republicans. All too often they're trying to actively undermine our rights.

    Edit:

Maybe they'll come out with a new flavor: Santorum.

Dammit. Now my favorite candy is tainted forever. At least Starburst makes awesome jellybeans, too.

Also, this made my day. :roflmao:

I wonder what Ronald Reagan would say if he were around today. After all, his children say he wasn't homophobic and this is the maker of his favorite food.

That's the funny thing about Reagan. It's said he didn't mind gay people, but he really threw them under the bus, by building alliances with Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and others on the evangelical right, power-players who continue to poison politics to this day. So for all the lip service about how he was some Hollywood guy who had nothing against gays, he certainly had some powerful supporters who did/do, and an awfully weird way of showing any support. Growing up then, his backers really demonized gays at a time they had a lot fewer supporters. I could never stand Reagan. A real phony, with his Donna Reed visions of this picture-perfect America, free of commies, atheists, and anyone else who didn't fit this All-American mold. It was almost like a new version of the 1950s.

Jelly Belly's always had an awful taste in my mouth.

I agree with those saying Starburst jelly beans are better.

Well fuck, there goes another thing I can't touch now. Good thing I'm not veg days right now otherwie my sweet tooth would be suffering.

  13. You know what? I don't even care anymore. Life's too stressful to throw my favorite luxuries out the window. I'll buy them anyway, and damn the politics behind it. I just want some candy.

Fuck Jelly Belly anyway. I eat Gimbal's jelly beans, which are pretty much the same thing. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm not even sure what brand of jelly beans I buy.
*runs to the kitchen to check*
Darn! Well I guess I gotta develop a taste for another brand now. T_T
