As a parent myself, I'm flabbergasted at the behaviour of these "parents".

An 18 year-old college freshman: Parents learn he's bi (he didn't come out to them), kick him out, steal his money, take his car and tell him they'll call the cops if he steps on their property...

...and amazed at how total strangers have helped him out!

As far as his parents: That's terrible. I can't believe any parents would act that way.

As far as the total strangers: That's amazing, and a great demonstration of what human beings can accomplish.

Awesome. I was homeless at one point, my mom having kicked me out for being a lesbian. Parents sometimes have no heart.

Its awesome to see people come together like that for him. Awesome!!!

Truly saddening what kind of parents would do that to their own child!
Thank Goodness there's so many kind hearted people out there who are willing to help out people they don't even know.

These kind of stories scare the ever-living crap out of me. I can't imagine what kind of parents would really do something like this to their kid, and yet it seems like it is happening every day! I really feel for this kid, I hope everything works out for him - thankfully it seems that he is getting a lot of support and help; a lot of people in his situation are not so lucky.

Conservatives are so quick saying gay parents are harming their kids but you don't see us kicking our kids out for being straight. Or for pretty much any reason.

If he's 18 can't he call the cops for them stealing his car and money?

As far as his money, yes, but it could be tricky to prove, as far as his car, it depends on who's name it's titled in. If it's his, then it's rather simple, if it's in his parents name, unfortunately, technically, it's their car.

I bet he could get the car back. While the car was in his parents name, he said he paid off all the car payments. More than likely he has records from his bank or somewhere that shows that he's been giving his parents a lot of money or a car company money. If a judge hears the story, Nick has proof that he paid for the entire car, my guess is it's possible for him to get his car back even if it's in his parents name.

Its good to hear that some caring people have helped him out! There are people who actually accept and love and care. As for the parents, shame on them!

If parents do something like that, I doubt they ever loved their child anyway. Also, the immediate theft of his car and money makes it look like they just wanted his stuff.

That depends on how things were done. I got my first car when I was 17, it was a little more than I could afford to pay cash for, my parents made me a loan for the rest. The car was in my dad's name the entire time I had it, partially because that made the insurance cheaper, partially because when I was 17, I couldn't technically buy a car, and when things seemed to be going fine, why bother with the costs of transferring the title. There weren't really any bank records that could have been used to show I purchased it

Still my guess is that now days with everything being all digital, it wouldn't be hard to track back and see that he's the person that paid for the car.

I'm actually kind of conservative (read:libertarian) myself.LOL IRONY
No good parent would infringe on a person's freedom to be themselves. To kick Nick out of the house, take all of his belongings and money, and disown them, all because he was bisexual (not even gay!)? That's terrible.
Still, at least there are people willing to help him, even though they barely know him.
There really are good people out there.

The way their parents treated him were unacceptable and evil. Why would someone do something like that to their son. The world is cold sometimes, but people find ways to prevail and kudos to the people that helped the kid out. I would've done the same if i was a by standard in the situation. I would've helped the kid out and make sure he was safe.

You can sure bet she's going to Hell for that. Or maybe in her mind *red neck accent* "Thank you lawrd Jesus. I have gotten rid of my son. Praise your holly name lordy"
