It is my view that this pattern of aggression is serious enough that the International Criminal Court should consider charges of Crimes Against Humanity against Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel is like a spoiled child of important parents. Little intrinsic worth in itself, Israel has to get the protection of its master as a foothold in the Levant, which the US can't afford to lose, so they have to let Israel have its sweets from time to time. Israel knows it, so it can get away with the Palestinian annexations and war crimes because no major country can afford offending the US. Lebanon is either in chaos or a French ally, depending on how you want to see it, so America has no foothold there, and Palestine and Syria aren't going to fall to the US sphere of influence.

Unless Washington puts a bit of stick about Israel, they'll feel free to behave like this.
