This is horrible, but I hope it will make the UK government put more pressure on Uganda.

Was I imagining it, or didn't Britain recently start offering asylum for people at risk in those countries because they are gay?

The UK has done for a while to be honest there have been Iranian gay people who have successfully claimed asylum , the recent news was EU whole, there was a case in Holland which was appealed to the European Court of Human Rights which ruled that same sex people from countries that outlaw and persecute them are refugees and eligible for asylum which is setting a good president.

The only concern I have heard is how do we know if someone is gay, I heard the UK was considering giving all LGBT claiming applicants time with a LGBT councillor to see who is genuine and who is making it up.

You really should avoid living in places like Uganda if you can help it.

Pretty much anyone arriving from a craphole like uganda is a refugee, gay or not. It just sounds like another version of the "gay test" muslims countries are planning to keep us out of their (craphole) countries. There is no way to reject someone's claim and be absolutely sure of it, as far as i know.

So let me see if I have this right -

This guy has his laptop stolen
Said laptop has a "gentlemen's video" on it featuring the defendant
The laptop and/or video ends up in the possession of a tabloid
Tabloid publishes stills taken from the video
    Defendant cops a trafficking charge
Tabloid and thieves faces no action and are probably applauded for doing the Ugandan version of their civic duty

So the rule in Uganda now appears to be if you want to commit a crime and get a medal for it, commit it against a gay person.:eusa_doh:

I guess, but I guess such a violently homophobic country nobody is going to claim to be gay if they are not. I think they have to explain why they want asylum, I guess made up stories are kinda obvious

    that's what I am thinking.
I didn't know stolen laptops could be used against the person...

would it be like stealing someone's passport and use it on them?
