Va. Sen. Creigh Deeds' Stabbing, Son's Death Eyed as Attempted Murder-Suicide - ABC News

Early this morning, Virginia State Senator and former gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds was stabbed, nearly to death, by his son, Austin Deeds at their home in Millboro, Virginia. He was pronounced dead at the scene of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

After being stabbed multiple times in the head and upper torso, Deeds walked out of his home and down the street where he was spotted by his cousin, who called 911. Deeds was taken by ambulance to a friend's farm, where he was then airlifted by helicopter to the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville.

His condition has since been upgraded from Critical to Stable, so there is a good chance he will survive.

 

Oh, whoops. The son was pronounced dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene.
