DO NOT BORROW BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY!!!

Two Belgian university professors recently decided to submit the 10 most borrowed books at the Antwerp library to bacteriology and toxicology tests.

Traces of cocaine were found on all 10 books. The traces were small enough that readers would not feel the effects, but significant enough that they could test positive for cocaine.

But the real case of life imitating art was revealed when the scientists discovered traces of the herpes virus in the pages of the erotic tale Fifty Shades of Grey.

Well. All I can really advise is not to masturbate over it...

Well, it would seem to me that not borrowing erotic fiction that has passed through plausibly dozens of makes a bit too much sense to go unconsidered. Though this is coming from a germaphobe, so just the word 'used' makes me cringe...

I'm a shelving page at a library. I wipe down the 50 Shades series with Clorox wipes before shelving them. It kills the herpes, but doesn't seem to be doing anything for the terrible writing.

What more would we expect by a public handled copy of fifty shades of gray?

wait... don't answer that... we do not wish to open pandora's box.

Apart from the common-sense "don't borrow erotic literature" bit, the rest is rather ridiculous. Going outside means coming into contact with cocaine and other drugs, germs of all sorts etc.

Don't touch money. Don't touch bank machines. Don't borrow books. Don't use restaurant cutlery. We should all just go around in enormous plastic hamster bubbles and cleanse all items allowed in with ethanol.

    That made me laugh!

I've worked in a library maybe 7 years now, and never worried about these things.

As somebody pointed out, there's more traces of cocaine on $20 bills. And I've never heard of herpes being spread by library books...Ayn Rand has been known to spread mental illness, but aside from that, you're safe.
