Higher than I would of thought on the males interviewed about M/M, and lower than I thought on F/F.

About what I would assume on the females interviewed though.

Would I be right to guess that M/M support among males is a plurality, not a minority?

I think these kind of questionnaires can be taken with a pinch of salt because there are so many deviations that make them hard to be accurate.

Hmm I disagree. The question is trying to uncover what people's attitudes are, and the best way to find the answer is to ask them. Take a large enough sample size and you'll have a statistically defensible result.

Anyway... it's heartening to see change happening :icon_bigg

Look at those numbers rocketing up. It's a pity about the sexism in finding F/F relationships more acceptable than M/M ones, but overall there is still progress. (It's also interesting to see that women appear less homophobic than men.)

This is odd. 1 in 6 is 17%, and more than that number have sought help. I'm trying to work out of the article is phrased badly and it actually means that ~4% of people have sought help.

That depends solely on what other options were in the poll.

We had a similar research here in Norway. It showed that 1 out of 6 men refuse to sit next to gay men on the bus.

I would like to see a poll conducted, both in the UK & US, that consists of only those under 30 or 40 as I think there is probably a huge generational gap. I think we would see very different numbers in terms of acceptance.

For record, 59% of Americans consider same-sex relationships morally acceptable according to this semi-questionable source. Though that isn't broken into male/female responses or MM/FF relationships, so I can't say how that compares.

I would imagine considering how huge of a difference it is compared to ten years ago (17 points lower), I think that the generation gap is more exaggerated here.

Still kind of hypocritical that men see female on female relationships as slightly more 'acceptable',
But otherwise I'm glad to see a positive trend in acceptance for LGBT people

I somehow don't believe it, it seems way too low, especially the female side.

Canada is culturally similar to the U.K and it is extremely rare to encounter a female that is against homosexuality.

The better question should be where did the people in the survey grow up, and what's their religious affiliation if they have any. That would put things into perspective.

I don't like stats that generalize an entire population without giving background on the people included in the stats.

The survey should at least include a breakdown of the age, background and religion of the people surveyed.

I don't include religious people as having a worthy opinion, because they are only against it because "God" is. Therefore their opinion is a write off because it's dictated by another entity, and isn't their true opinion, it's a sheeps opinion.

Sorry the number just seems incredibly low for the U.K

    Glad it's getting better. :eusa_clap
I'm relatively sure that the bias against gay guys is because of the stereotypical "nancy boy" gay guy that appears a lot in media.
I've met homophobic girls. One of them is atheist, which makes me wonder why she thinks homosexuality is wrong.
Man, that's pretty irrational, if you ask me.

That's really interesting. I find it interesting that .2 percent less women find female-female relationships accessible.
