That group still exists. Unlike Exodus, they have not folded. I don't think they have a lot of critical mass. It will probably collapse due to a lack of interest and abundance of negative experiences, sooner than later. Actually, they push chastity over conversion. Regardless, it's at the extreme right wing of Catholicism. Getting rid of them would be one less black eye for the Catholic religion.

If you wanted to remain someone who follows the catholic catechism to the letter you would have to refrain from homosexual acts. This is one reason I'm strongly considering becoming Anglican. The liturgy is very similar.

Its also in the national press , note the Irish Independent is not Independent its a right wing rag and the comments reflect this "Christophobia" lol

University shuts down college society over alleged

The obsoleteness of the whole group makes me chuckle, Listserv??? ITS 2013 NOT 1993 (Seriously that dates from 1989) and I never knew Yahoo groups still existed!!

The "Legion of Mary" society in the college has been shut down.

I feel sorry for the Galway LGBT+ society they are lovely people and don't deserve this (In Ireland all the college societies go to a thing called Pink Training each year and the delegates discuss and learn about various LGBT issues) and although they are tiny compared to the one from my college they are really active, I hope nobody has been upset by this

Anglicans are far more liberal than Catholics, trust me I am from an Anglican background then went to a Catholic school its much easier being a gay Anglican than a gay Catholic

That's... Actually a really good idea. I'd never thought about doing that before, and the comments on those types of things just stress me out. :/

The uni did the right thing! Go universities that are non-discriminatory!

I was gonna go to NUIG once upon a time. I like that the university responded against it with their statement and suspended the group, but here's to hoping they get completely disbanded. Suspended isn't good enough. What they're trying to do is harmful is so many ways :icon_sad:

"A Catholic group rather than a society for people named Mary, unfortunately"

General procedure, you suspend a society and give the people inside in it a chance to explain themselves (i.e fair) then you decide whenever to shut it down.

Funny that most cultures Christianity was introduced into,
    Supported and encouraged gay relations,
Or had elements that allowed for it,
    Persia,
    Rome,
    Greece,
    Hellenistic Egypt Etc.

I am almost sure a couple of the disciples had quite a bit of manly love too.
Anyways I'd just ignore such rubbish,
It's not worth my time
