    WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now women have to buy an optional ride to cover an abortion if they are raped? They are SERIOUSLY trying to make this law.
    WTH?
What woman wants to get pregnant from rape go to the doctor and hear. "Oh shucks, you didnt buy rape insurance" .
Why are we charged more because we were born with a uterus? And this douchebag compares it to buy car insruance? We buy a car, we are born women. WTF? I am sooo angry right now.
I honestly hate living in this state sometimes. Maybe I should just leave.

Michigan lawmakers want to force women to take out “special” insurance for abortion - Salon.com

I think we need to put in a ban that says men have to buy optional impotence coverage. Regular insurance won't cover medications and doctors visits for impotence. After all sex isnt need to live.

The director of Southeast Michigan Right to Life and the local paper opinion section's resident bitch had this to say,

"This is something that pro-death people who call themselves 'pro-choice' should support, because it gives women the ability to opt-out of having abortion coverage."

No, you're taking away the coverage from women who now will have to pay more in order to have abortions covered. Then again, this is a watered-down version of other solid-red states who have banned any insurance company from paying for abortions under any circumstances.

"And all the money goes to the new wing of our local church, called the 'Gays Must Die' wing."

I mean, seriously. This is a way to make tons of money. The only bright spot is that I can't believe people would buy this.

    Won't pass.

The affordable care act prevents insurance of any way costing more for women than men. By including this, it drives the cost up for women, which is a violation of the federal law come January.

I'm a bit surprised that this wasn't Oklahoma, given that they were trying to pass laws that life begins at conception as a way to ban abortion a few years ago...Actually, a bit surprised that this wasn't one of the southern states.

Hopefully it'll get shot down so hard that the bill explodes when it hits the ground.

I live in a Midwestern state, but I don't think my insurance covers abortion at all. (maybe in certain situations though) I know it doesn't cover birth control. If they had optional coverage for either BC or abortion coverage, I'd get fired for getting the coverage. The boss admitted that whatever you do with the insurance, he gets all the info, like whose applied for what. Up until this year it wasn't a concern for me, but when I got birth control I did not apply my health insurance to it, and under the new hippa laws, if you don't turn it into insurance, the Doctor isn't allowed to sent the information to the insurer that you have it, or got a Dr. visit for it. So I'm having to pay for it myself. It's worth it to me to not get pregnant, and if I got pregnant through rape, I could pay for it myself,
but I feel for people who might not be able to afford it.

Holy cow, sldanlm. That is just not right. Because if HIPPA laws I would be surprised if the insurance company even disclose what coverage you bought. If it is is not illegal, it is a bullshit thing for your boss to do.

I agree completely it's a BS thing to do. They say it's legal, but I don't know, and don't
want to make my job a legal case. It's the reason I haven't come out fully. If they ever do find out and actually fire me, then I'll sue, but for now I'm in the closet to them. They
even said they could technically fire people for what they post on social media.

I do know in the area where I live a teacher for a Catholic school was fired because she was an unwed mother, but I'm not a schoolteacher and don't work directly for a church. She sued, and I think I heard they settled out of court.

its illegal for him to fire you come January just for getting BC. Its covered in the insurance just like viagra. if he tried to fire you, you can go to the ACLU.
    Only exception is religious places.

He's not the owner of the corp., he's just my top supervisor, does what corporate tells him. I'm not sure it's the birth control they're concerned about, so much as people living together without being married. Regardless, they've already said that they're not paying to provide birth control, regardless of the affordable care act. The boss said corporate is planning on joining some others in challenging the new law, and if that doesn't work, dropping the health care coverage entirely and just paying the fine.

The issue with it being illegal to fire someone for using BC after Jan is that several states like Wyoming for instance are "Right to Work" states, which means the employer can fire you for any, or even no reason at at all. It would be very hard to prove you were fired for BC specifically. Actually this also is a problem if they were to pass ENDA here, because it would be hard to prove you were fired for being gay.

My state is a right to work state. The employee manual is very vague on what it consdiers immoral behavior or words.

It seems to me that the socially conservative extremists in our government appear to be telling themselves: "If people don't like your policy, you don't need to change. You just need to effectively silence the people."

To be fair, most insurance policies don't cover abortion to begin with, so the law mandating an abortion rider might actually be a good thing.
