Ugandan Parliament passes bill that could mean gays face life in prison · PinkNews.co.uk

    Sigh.

For some reason I had assumed the international pressure the bill had received would prevent it ever coming to a vote, but alas.

True but then there's the danger that ordinary Ugandans would notice that their elected leaders are all corrupt, thieving bastards who should be thrown from office (literally) then given a good kicking. Hence the parliament deciding to go all Battle Royale on LGBTI folk, we never stood a chance in the face of that.

Right wing Christian groups from America have spent a LOT of time and effort fomenting hatred and intolerance of gays in Africa. I think they figure if they can't win their 'battle' here, they'll spread their hatred to Africa though so-called 'missionary' work.

Isn't this the same country that had the 'Kill the gays' bill? If so, what were you guys really expecting?

Can we glass them already? Not much of value would be lost in a land full of bigots.

So I saw several lawmakers pushing this barbaric law state that, as usual, one of the reasons this was done was to "protect" children. Because knowing all the gays are locked up with bring peace to the minds of Ugandan youth....well, in between flashbacks of fighting in the Lord's Resistance Army. But hey what better way to "protect" children than to give them kalashnikovs?

Not shocking. With the recent actions in India and Russia, it provides some international cover for Uganda to finally make their move.

However, unlike India or Russia they aren't as strategically important to Western interests. We should come down brutally hard on them and begin by cutting off all funding.
