    Ugh. Disgusting. Completely disgusting.

I followed a link in the article which gives a background to something that took place there last year.

    Read more here.

It seems that the bigotry comes straight from the top down, based on the comments Netanyahu made. Disgusting.

Not really surprising, it's well-established by now that Israel is a racist apartheid state where your skin shade determines how you will be treated by Israeli society.

Even Jews of African descent (mainly Ethiopian) are victims of racism.

More and more it's becoming comparable to the American South in the 1950s. Except Israel is going backward, not forward.

And this is not even getting into the whole Palestinian issue...basically the darker skin is, the worse off you are in Israel.

The problem is, Israel gets a pass for its' leaders' constant assertions that Israel must remain a purely "Jewish state". We wouldn't accept that sort of ethnocentric nationalism from any other culturally 'Western' democratic country. It would be labeled as far-right extremism, not accepted as a valid viewpoint a in 21st century world of multiethnic countries in a multiethnic world. Ironically it was that same mindset ("Germany must be a purely German state") that led to the Holocaust.
